Charlotte-based advertising agency STUDIOBANKS cashed in at the 2007 ADDY® Awards on March 8th, winning 4 Awards. The Awards Show and Gala was held at the plush CenterStage@NoDa Convention Center in the artistic district of Charlotte, where over 250 local and regional creative directors, designers and writers gathered for the annual competition. Nearly 50 area agencies submitted work, totaling 400 entries in the competition. STUDIOBANKS walked away with 1 Gold and 3 Silver—an encore to their Best of Show Award last year for website client Urbana. The young, five-person agency continues to prove their acumen for polished work in the Charlotte Area, as these Awards added to the 10 ADDYs already gracing their bookshelves. Since opening its doors in 2002, STUDIOBANKS has continued to shine, winning accounts such as Opera Carolina, Urbana Cityspa & Teabar, Meineke and WMYT-TV to name only a few. The interactive artisans recently moved to a hip Southend Studio and they continue to leave their creative egos at the door and focus on the collaborative process to develop cutting-edge work.
The contest included some 36 categories—from radio and TV to print collateral, interactive media, illustration and photography. The judging panel was made up of three A-list agency Vets: Stacy McCullough, President, Sprenger McCullough & Co.; TV and Film Director Art Haynie; and Creative Director Steve Bautista. According to Barry Wilson, Charlotte ADDY Awards Chair and Board Member of the American Advertising Federation “The ADDY Awards is the largest creative competition in the world and one of the toughest. For the past five years, entries in the Charlotte ADDY Awards have increased an average of 15%, which has been driven by a growing number of small independent agencies and creative boutiques in our region. The quality of creative work we see in the ADDY Awards competition has been raised.”
STUDIOBANKS received a Gold ADDY in the Interactive Website B-to-B Category for client Innoseal; they took home two Silver ADDY Awards for clients winestore and Reaching Quiet in the Website Consumer Category; and another Silver ADDY for Logo Design for client Bare Necessities. Winestore owner Keith Messick said of STUDIOBANKS: “They took our vision for the website to places that we never imagined possible…not a day goes by we don’t get praise for how cool our site is.”
For Founder, Owner and Creative Director Banks Wilson, “It’s great to be included in such esteemed creative company, and it’s very satisfying to be acknowledged for our efforts.” When asked about what the future holds for STUDIOBANKS, Banks said: “We’ll continue to take care of our creative team and even better care of our clients. With that approach, I’m confident we’ll continue to grow and provide high-quality creative and attract the area’s best clients.”
Creatively, STUDIOBANKS has made their mark. And with their talented team and self-effacing attitude, they’re sure to be cashing in for years to come.
