Tracy Russ, a copywriter we work with, graciously invited us to join him for lunch at a fundraising event for The Light Factory. Their website describes the organization like this:

The Light Factory is a non-profit arts center dedicated to exhibition and education programs promoting the power of photography and film. Each year thousands of people visit The Light Factory in Uptown Charlotte's Spirit Square to experience our exhibitions, take classes, hear talks, and see films. From the time that I was an art student at UNC Charlotte, I was well aware of The Light Factory and have viewed several of their exhibits. What I learned about the organization that I didn't already know was the amount of work the group does with young artists and students in the community. Charlotte is very lucky.

On a design note: The printed materials at the event were very well done! Anyone know who does their design work? Very clean minimalist layout with strong use of type and negative space. The business card even had a rectangular die cut that could be used to frame photos. Very clever! Now, if we can just get them to step up their website!
