
AAF Charlotte hosts the Charlotte ADDY Awards & Gala Show each year as the first of a three-tier national competition for creative excellence. As a professional trade association, AAF Charlotte is driven and supported by volunteers within the creative community, our team included.
After volunteering our time to launch AAF’s new digital brand platform, Studiobanks signed on as an ADDY Awards sponsor to help create buzz about the entry deadline. The tongue-in-cheek theme, “Truth in Advertising” aimed to shed light on the moments when great creative work is held back or squashed by control-freak bosses or clients. Referencing the print campaign designed by Limerick Studios and Hot Sake, Studiobanks launched a microsite to encourage creatives to embrace the event’s theme and anonymously call out the folks who held them back. Users uploaded names and photos of those worthy foes, and dressed them up in embarrassing clothing. From there they could print, email or post the caricature in their office bathroom to let the world know who kept them down and held them back. A “wall of shame” at the Gala Show displayed all of the hilarious caricatures created on the microsite.
